Writers' Kickback

The GEM Writers' Kickback is an evening for students in grades 6-12 to create and share writing inspired by GEM student artwork. Everything is provided: prompts and artwork for inspiration, comfy writing spaces, opportunities for oral expression, food, drinks, journals, and pens and pencils.

Students write messages of hope and resilience that will encourage others to keep going. We use those words alongside GEM student artwork in our outreach projects, such as our calendar and posters, and we provide awards for students whose writing we use.
